Here at MY PO BOX LA we make renting a mailbox easy. You provide us with 2 forms of ID, fill out the rental form, agree to our rules and we can give you a personal address for your mail and packages.

  1. Provide us with 2 forms of ID. Laws require that in order to rent a private mailbox you need to provide 2 forms of government issued picture ID. Most common forms are a Valid Drivers License, Passport, Green Card, Employment Authorization Card or a Foreign Passport. We will need to verify that the form of ID you present are in fact you and they are valid and not expired. If you do not have 2 valid forms of ID you will be unable to rent a mailbox.

  2. Fill out the Rental Form. United States Postal Service requires that anyone who wants to rent a private mailbox fill out PS Form 1583. Application for Delivery of Mail Through Agent. The store that rents you the mailbox needs to be verified with the USPS as an approved Mail Center. Here at MY PO BOX LA we are an approved mail agent for the post office. PS Form 1583 is one sheet that requires you to enter your legal information including Name, Address, Phone Number and what forms of ID you are using to verify your identity. Normally takes about 10 minutes to complete the form. After complete you sign and the mail center also signs. This form is then sent to the USPS. Copy of PS Form 1583 is below.

  3. After up have provided us the the 2 forms of ID, filled out the PS Form 1583, you need to agree to our rules we will issue you a key and passcode for the back door. You can access your mailbox 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will need to have both the passcode and key to retrieve your mail.
